Chest Shops allow you to create automated shops using storage blocks and signs, making it easy to buy and sell items with other players without needing to be online.
Compatible Storage Blocks
You can create a Chest Shop by placing a sign on any of these storage blocks:
Chest
Standard wooden chest - the most common choice for shops.
Barrel
Wooden barrel storage block - great for themed shops.
Shulker Box
Purple shulker box - portable and compact shop option.
Gilded Chest
Ornate red and black chest with gold trim - perfect for premium shops.

Managing Your Shop
Changing the Displayed Item
After creating your shop, you can change the display case (the item shown floating above the chest) by right-clicking the sign while holding the new item you want to display. The shop will update to show the new item in the display case.
Restocking
Make sure to refill the storage block - items don't spawn out of thin air! Players can only buy what you have in stock.
Checking Your Shop
Right-click your shop sign to check:
- Current stock levels
- Shop settings
- Transaction history (if available)
Best Practices
- Location matters: Place shops in high-traffic areas like spawn or market districts
- Competitive pricing: Check other shops to ensure your prices are fair
- Keep shops stocked: Regularly restock your sell shops to keep them active
- Clear descriptions: Use descriptive fourth lines so players know what you're selling
- Organize by category: Group similar items together for easier browsing
- Use appropriate quantities: Consider using smaller quantities (1-16) for expensive items and larger quantities (64) for common items
