Quests

TL;DR: Quests run on the Journey mod. Your active quest shows in the right-side HUD sidebar. Type /journey to open the full menu. Quests start automatically when you meet a trigger; some unlock after completing earlier ones.

PBG runs structured quest chains via the Journey mod. Quests are scripted progression — pick a starter, defeat a gym leader, catch X species — that hand out Pokedollars, items, and unlocks on completion.

How quests work

A quest has a name, a description, and one or more subtasks. Subtasks complete sequentially or in parallel depending on the quest. Each subtask listens for a specific in-game event — catching a species, running a command, defeating an NPC, entering a zone — and ticks off when the event fires.

When all subtasks of a quest complete, the quest pays out rewards (currency, items, or scripted effects like unlocking the next quest).

The HUD sidebar on the right edge of your screen shows your currently-active quest's subtasks with progress counters. The sidebar updates the moment a subtask ticks.

Opening the menu

The menu shows three tabs:

  • Active — quests currently in progress
  • Completed — past completions (rewards already paid)
  • Available — quests you've unlocked but haven't started yet (rare — most start automatically)

The main quest chains

Two main chains drive PBG progression:

1. Spawn Tutorial

The 8-step onboarding tour you do on first join. See Your First 30 Minutes → for the walkthrough. Payout: ₽900 total + unlocks the Zenith Gym Challenge.

2. Zenith Gym Challenge

Auto-starts the moment you finish the Spawn Tutorial. Eight NPC gym leaders across the Zenith region, plus the Elite Four and Champion in the Royal League. Each leader has a level cap and a recommended team — beat them in order. See Zenith Gyms → for the per-leader detail.

Background progression

Some quests run quietly in the background without a HUD entry — they tick whenever the matching event fires and pop a notification when they complete:

  • Dex Rewards — milestones at 50, 100, 200, etc. species caught. Run by the Progression Master NPC at spawn.
  • Research Tasks — per-species objectives (catch 3, defeat 5, evolve 1) in the Pokémon Legends: Arceus style. Earn research points and climb Galaxy Ranks.

Both systems are explained in detail when you talk to the Progression Master at spawn (coords 25, 1, -10) during Your First 30 Minutes Step 6 →.

Resetting a quest

If you got skipped past a quest step (returning-player auto-completion, server reload, edge case), staff can reset it with /journey resettask <player> <quest_id>. Open a #support ticket in Discord with the quest name.
