Breeding allows you to create new Pokemon with specific stats, moves, and abilities by breeding compatible Pokemon together. This comprehensive guide covers everything you need to know about breeding in Cobblemon.
To begin breeding, you'll need to craft and place a Pasture Block. This block serves as the breeding environment for your Pokemon.
Crafting Recipe:
Use the crafting recipe above to create a Pasture Block. You'll need wood planks, a PC, wheat, and a hopper.
Place the Pasture Block in your desired location. Make sure you have enough space for Pokemon to roam around.
For automated egg collection, place a chest beneath the Pasture Block and connect it with a hopper. This will automatically collect eggs as they're produced.
For two Pokemon to breed, they must belong to compatible egg groups. Each Pokemon is assigned to one or more egg groups, which determines their breeding compatibility.
Choose two Pokemon of opposite genders that share at least one egg group. You can also use Ditto with any compatible Pokemon.
Insert the selected Pokemon into the Pasture Block. You can place up to 16 Pokemon in a single Pasture Block.
Right-click the Pasture Block with Wheat to activate breeding. The Pokemon will begin the breeding process.
Pokemon will produce an egg approximately every 15 minutes. Be patient - breeding takes time!
Eggs will appear behind the Pasture Block. Right-click the bottom of the block to collect them. If you set up a hopper system, eggs will automatically go to the chest.
Individual Values (IVs) are crucial for determining a Pokemon's potential in various stats. Breeding allows for the inheritance of IVs from parent Pokemon.
| Item | Effect |
|---|---|
| Destiny Knot | When held by a parent, ensures that 5 out of 12 IVs from both parents are passed down to the offspring |
| Power Weight | Guarantees the HP IV is passed down from the parent holding it |
| Power Bracer | Guarantees the Attack IV is passed down |
| Power Belt | Guarantees the Defense IV is passed down |
| Power Lens | Guarantees the Special Attack IV is passed down |
| Power Band | Guarantees the Special Defense IV is passed down |
| Power Anklet | Guarantees the Speed IV is passed down |
Have one parent hold a Destiny Knot. This ensures 5 IVs are inherited from the parents.
Equip the other parent with a Power Item corresponding to the specific IV you want guaranteed (e.g., Power Band for Defense).
Continue breeding to gradually improve IVs. Each generation can potentially have better IVs than the last.
Natures affect a Pokemon's stat growth, increasing one stat by 10% while decreasing another by 10%.
Egg Moves are special moves that Pokemon can only learn through breeding. These moves are passed down from parent to offspring.
Once you have an egg, you need to hatch it to get your new Pokemon.
Having a Pokemon with one of these abilities in your party will halve the hatching time:
Shiny Pokemon are rare variants with different coloration. Breeding can increase your chances of obtaining shiny Pokemon.
Breeding two Pokemon from different original trainers increases the shiny chance significantly.
Breeding with one or both parents being shiny further increases the odds of hatching a shiny offspring.
